Is the web the right way to go?
In 1996 answering this question was as difficult as many strategic decisions today. From 1996 to 2002 I worked for Sony Germany, consulting on internet projects and the website. Another assignment were analytics: Month by month we transfered raw log file data into a format everybody could understand.
Good times. The website usage went from below a mere 30.000 to more than 700.000 in that timeframe. Web building was pretty complex, not because you do that much, but simply because building anything was not that easy.
Still, I was very proud to work for a brand like Sony. Nice people there.
